Tinubu, Osinbajo, other APC aspirants worse than Buhari: Wike

Governor of Rivers state and 2023 PDP presidential hopeful, Nyesom Wike, says presidential aspirants from the All Progressives Congress are worse than President Muhammadu Buhari.Â
Mr Wike was responding to questions in an exclusive interview he had with the BBC, asking about his chances of winning against Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu.
Mr Wike says the trio are failures and will not perform better than their fellow party member and Nigeria’s president, Mr Buhari.
“What will an APC candidate say that will be different? They worked with the present government that has destabilised Nigeria.
“The VP was in office, what does he want to do now that he did get the chance to do as VP? The APC government has failed and the people in APC are failures,” Mr Wike said.
Mr Wike said the intention of these candidates to build on the legacies of Mr Buhari was a bad omen, owing to the incompetence and underperformance of the outgoing president in areas of security and the economy.
“They continue to herrald that Buhari has done well despite the insecurity, economic hardship and downward spiral of the naira. I don’t see any of them that will do better than Buhari. The VP headed the economic council, how is the economy?
“He (Transportation Minister Amaechi) went to borrow money from China, the money we did not spend well. If he did not do well as minister, he can’t do any better as president,” Mr Wike added.
Mr Wike has been touring states seeking to woo delegates of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, ahead of the May 28 and 29 national convention of the PDP.
He is heading for a tough battle with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel and Governor of Bauchi state Bala Mohammed.
