The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Kano says it has received 238 complaints of human rights abuse between February and March.
Hassan, the first defendant, was allegedly ordered to bring a human eye to be used in preparing an “appear and disappear” charm by the old woman.
“Yusuf was rescued alive and taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano. He was later handed over to (the) police division.”
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant lured the five-year-old girl into his room and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.
Two dead bodies of drowned persons were recovered from different water bodies in Kano as the apparent drowning epidemic shows no sign of abating in the northern state.
