Two men, Semiu Rafiu, 40, and Adebayo Mutiu, 45, on Wednesday appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stealing five air conditioners valued N5 million.

The duo, of undisclosed addresses, were charged on two-count of conspiracy and stealing.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, ASP Tunji Olaniyi, told the court that the defendants allegedly conspired with others at large to commit the offence.

He said the offence was committed on April 22, at about 1: 30a.m at the office of the National Blood Service Agency, Yemetu, Ibadan.

Mr Olaniyi alleged that Rafiu and Mutiu stole five air conditioners valued at N5 million, property of the National Blood Service Commission, represented in court by one Dr Odunayo Akano.

He said that the offence is contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Section 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Maaruf Mudashiru, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N500, 000 each, with one surety each in like sum.

He said that the sureties must be blood relations.

Mr Mudashiru, thereafter, adjourned the matter until June 23, for hearing.
