Police detain three, recover firearm, ammunition in Enugu operations

The police command in Enugu has detained three suspects in coordinated crime prevention operations across the state, recovering a firearm, ammunition and a tricycle.
The command’s spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Enugu.
Mr Ndukwe said that on March 15, about 9:00 a.m., operatives on patrol along Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway intercepted an unregistered tricycle.
He said, “During a thorough search, a locally fabricated double-barrelled pistol was recovered from the two occupants of the tricycle.
“The suspects, identified as Ugochukwu Samuel, 26, and Kevin Kosichukwu, 26, were promptly detained, and the tricycle recovered.”
Mr Ndukwe said that at 10:30 a.m. that day, operatives on stop-and-search duty along Nsukka Road, Orba, intercepted a motorcycle carrying two young men.
“On sighting operatives, one fled into a nearby bush. The rider, Chinedu Harrison, 17, was detained with six rounds of 9mm live ammunition recovered.
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to membership of a cult group and made further useful disclosures.
“Efforts are ongoing to detain the fleeing suspect and other accomplices, while suspects will be arraigned upon conclusion of investigations,” he said.
Police commissioner Mamman Giwa commended operatives for proactive policing and urged personnel to sustain the momentum.
The commissioner urged residents to remain law-abiding and to support police with credible, actionable information.
