The suspect said, “I don’t know what triggered him against me.’’
The video showed the officers, in a patrol van of an Asaba command parked on the road, counting wads of cash.
Mr Edafe said arms, ammunition, cartridges, laptops, and mobile phones were recovered from the suspects during the period.
The command said that the suspects and the exhibits were in police custody.
The police noted that the Abdullahi-led gang was also responsible for the abduction of a young lady at Ogwash-Uku on July 9, 2025.
According to Mr Ugbo’s neighbour, the operation was carried out by heavily armed gunmen, who invaded his residence and took him away at gunpoint.
The police spokesperson said the suspect and the exhibits found on him are now in police custody, as the investigation is ongoing.
The Delta State CP urged members of the public to provide useful, timely and credible information to the police.
The CP reassured residents in the state of the command’s commitment to providing adequate security.
The police spokesman said, “During the gun duel, four of the suspected kidnappers were shot and later gave up the ghost, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.”
