The governor said the beneficiaries were selected following recommendations by the Kaduna State advisory council on the prerogative of mercy after a review of eligible cases.
He identified inclusion, unity, accountability, flexibility, and transparency as key pillars of democratic governance.
He said the governor had demonstrated visionary leadership through policies and programmes.
“Democracy thrives when leadership serves, and citizens participate,” he said.
The students described the initiative as a transformative intervention.
According to him, the nation is grappling with serious security challenges, and the government must do more to protect its citizens’ lives and property.
He also urged Nigerians to intensify prayers for the nation to overcome its emerging challenges.
He said Nigeria’s democratic journey had recorded significant milestones since the return to civilian rule in 1999.
The AANI president said food security should be treated as a national security priority.
He described Democracy Day as an opportunity to reflect on democratic progress and the role of the youth in nation-building.
