Two arraigned over alleged burglary, stealing of phone

The police on Wednesday charged two men before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State, over alleged burglary and stealing.
The defendants are Ebun Oladunjoye. 26; and Gbenga Mandella, 24.
The defendants, a plumber and painter respectively, are standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
They both, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Jan. 2, at No. 55 Ayegbabami St. in Okitipupa.
He alleged that the defendants burgled the dwelling house of one Orimisan Netufo and stole his Itel A70 android phone, worth N150, 000,.
The prosecutor said that the defendants were eventually arrested following police investigation.
The offences contravene the provisions of Sections 383, 390 (9),and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.
The Chief Magistrate, Mayowa Olanipekun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N250, 000 each, with one surety each in like sum.
He added that the sureties, must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and must also present evidence of two years tax payment made to the state.
The court adjourned the case until April 28, for hearing.
