A magistrates’ court in Jos on Thursday sentenced a 23-year-old wheelbarrow pusher, Umar Musa, to five years’ imprisonment for stealing customers’ goods.
The police prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The now convict was arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, malicious damage and stealing.
Mr Sani was charged with conspiracy and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The court also gave the convict an option of N60,000 fine.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the changes.
The magistrate adjourned the case until May 18, for mention.
The Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Mr NJoku said the defendant caused the death of his mother, Onyema Damian, by stabbing her in the back with a knife.
